Rick Riordan was born on June 5th, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. At Rick's high school, he was the editor for the newspaper. At the University of Texas, he had a double major in English and History. As a kid, Rick loved reading and learning about mythology. He grew up in a very artisitc family; his dad being a ceramisct and his mom a musician. So, he had unique built to his personality. That's when he started to write at about 13 or 14.
Rick had a lot of teaching jobs. First, he lived in San Fransisco for eight years teaching at Presidio Hill School. Then, he had his two sons, Haley and Partick, and moved back to San Antonio. Next, he taught mythology at Saint Mary's Hall, grades 6-8, for six years. He then stopped working there to become a full time writer.
