Person vs.
Self This is obviously the biggest conflict in the Son of Neptune. Percy has to overcome his state of being without a memory. Percy describes his period of no memory as tough and frustrating. He can only remember the name Annabeth. There are many times when Percy is upset that he cannot remember anything. In some moments he needed his memory to connect the dots about the quest they were going to try and solve. Towards the end of the book, they needed to find Thanatos, the god of death, and Percy said he knows where he is but cannot remember because of the curse. As you can see, this was a very important conflict. |
Person vs. Person Another conflict in the Son of Neptune is Person vs. Person. The people consit of Percy and his friends and Gaea. The only way to keep the world from being destroyed is to rescue the god of death but the god of death is being held captuve by Gaea. Percy has to fight Gaea throughout the entire book, because she is the goddess of nature. Percy is very frustrated about the tyings he has to go through with Gaea. In conclusion, this a huge conflict in the book the Son of Neptune.

Protagonist The protagonist is a character that has to face the antagonist. The protagonist is the "good guy" of the story. In the book, the Son of Neptune, Percy Jackson is the protagonist. Percy is a demigod, a very daring and caring one. Percy always finds a way to save the day, but always comes across sticky situations. Percy is a great friend always lending out a helping hand. As you can see, Percy is definetly the protagonist.

Antagonist The antagonist is the "bad guy" of the story. In the book, the Son of Neptune, Gaea also known as the goddess the Earth, is the antagonist. She destests demigods and wants to kill them. She mostly hates Percy Jackson. Gaea wanted Percy to kill his friends and become partners with Gaea. Gaea was the groups' biggest fear because she is the closest out of all the Titans to destroying the world. She controls all of the Earth using it to her evil advantages. All in all, Gaea is obviously the antagonist; and a very bad one too.

Climax
The climax is the turning point in a story. It changes the plot of a story. In the Son of Neptune, the climax is when the group finds the God of Death, have to free him and fight the monster. This is the most exciting part of the book so it goes in the category of climax. The moment that this was transpiring, was very intense and very suspensful. It came down to the wire! Percy and Hazel handled the monster while Frank went and tried to flee the God of Death. Read the book and finds out how they did!
Short Plot Summary
Percy wakes up one day with no memory and was unaware about where he was and why. He finds other demigods by the help of a mythical old lady. He finds Frank, Reyna, and Hazel. They take him to Camp Jupiter and he is put to a quest by Ares, the god of war. Percy, Hazel, and Frank must go to Alaska and free the god of death, Thanatos. If they fail the world will be destroyed. Another thing they have to keep in mind is, that they must unite Greek demigods and Roman demigods. Read the story and find out what happens!
